SATORI Conference on Policy Options for Ethics Assessment
On June 24th to June 26th 2015, SATORI partner UNESCO will host the conference “Policy and Legal Options for Developing Ethics Assessment for Research and Innovation Within the Context of Globalisation”.
The conference participants will discuss the effects of globalization on research agendas with a particular focus on Clinical Trials, Biobanking, Indigenous Knowledge/Bioprospecting, Supply Chain Ethics, “Brain Drain,” and Scientific Misconduct with the ultimate goal of developing potential policy, legal and/or other options within an international context.
These recommendations will in turn be delivered to the European Commission in August 2015. The scope of the project touches upon critical issues affecting all nations. As the project coordinator has stated, “Right now the situation is that ethical assessment of research and innovation is increasingly important because there are major societal consequences with research and innovation whether it’s for human rights, whether it’s for the environment, whether it’s for justice, well-being or privacy.
